Games, especially Tabletop RPGs, are meant for you to have fun. To be someone you could never be or dream of being. Dungeons and Dragons presents me with several options of different characters for me to be: I could be a Gnome Barbarian with pale skin and red tattoos across his body, who has accidentally killed his wife and child during a raging berserker state type of thing; I could be a Half-Orc Warlock who has sold his Soul for a Great Old One in exchange for the love of his life... And so on. There are, literally, infinite awesome possibilities to be played just from the Player Handbook alone.
Yet, in truth... I, Jon, just want to play an Elephant person; and Bro would probably want to play a Bear person. Should I be the one to prevent him from doing so? Of course not! There's where Homebrews come in. Homebrews are the soul of Tabletop RPGs. They are customized stuff that people spend hours and hours of their lifetime making, using D&D's mechanic system. I'll be honest, I'm incapable of making some myself, I'm too dumb for that; but there are some angels around the Interwebz that post their stuff, for normies like me to use and have fun.
Since I want you guys to enjoy this experience, I'll allow the use of Homebrews for class/subclass/race/subrace and other stuff. Some of those are really unbalanced (Avoid danddwiki like the plague), because of that, I will require you to PM me the link to your intended homebrew and I shall take a look at it.
All in all, I'll just ask you two things: a) Be reasonable with your choices; b) If it is a Homebrew Race, just make up a short paragraph detailing how it fits into Faêrun (the world of our campaign). Are they a tribe of nomads who live in the cold wastes of the North? Are they common among the civilized lands of Faêrun? That kind of thing, so I can fit them into the bigger picture.
Here are some good places to find homebrews:
Reddit Unearthed Arcana
Reddit Best of Homebrew 5e (BoH5e)
Reddit DnD Homebrew (This one is has the lowest standards of the Three, it's still great though)
Middle Finger of Vecna (This one is my favorite and I completely forgot about it)
