Fae lowered her flute, staring at him. The way he spoke was either a long untreated medical condition or he just liked the sound of his own voice. These were the two causing such calamity.
She gave him a small smile, "Thank you Baron.... " His name was so long, she had to pick atleast one to finish her greeting. Faelyn decided to go with the easiest one,"... Aestro. I am called Faelyn and I am not a bard. I am a wizard." She then directed her greeting to Sir Elendin. "You're rather big to be a retainer...", eying him over. She stared at them a moment once more, twirling the Flute in her hand. she then spoke again,"Who is he protecting you from", she asked plainly, "he's listened to you prattle on for some time now... I even heard you, from halfway down the road", she gestured. "He must pay you handsomely then, Sir Elendin just to listen to that?", she chuckled.
Looking at them standing there, she made a decision. "I think I should accompany you", placing the flute inside her pack. "I believe Selûne put you two in my path for a reason, even if it maybe to alleviate the stress on your ears Sir Elendin", she grinned.

Sir Eredin halted as he and his charge were rebuked by the wood elf, hand instinctively reaching towards the shaft of the wicked scythe on his back, thinking of the last person who had spoken to him in such a tone and lived to tell the tale. That man had been his king. He could not comprehend how this elf woman had come to one of the busiest trade roads in the realm and expected peace and quiet. Certainly the litany of horses and wagons that rode it day and night made more noise than an armored man and a prattling warlock. Then again, he recalled that the Wood Elves that inhabited the forests of Tethyr had been a sensitive breed as well, ever wary of human rulers wishing to tame their forest with torch and axe, occasionally ambushing a logging party for cutting down one of their precious trees. He could still smell the smoke from their burning villages from those occasions when the king deemed fit to send his knights in retaliation. The things he had done for king and country...
He shook himself from the pleasant reverie, not surprised to find his charge was mid-monologue. He grimaced as the warlock attempted to discern a title for his position, not for the first time. "Close enough," he deadpanned, as Aestro settled on retainer, certain it would be guardian tomorrow and chaperone the next.
"Eredin," he corrected the elf curtly, as she mispronounced his name as Elendin somehow, curious how she had managed to recall the warlock's but not his own. He had expected a better memory from a wizard, but supposed this one may not be the top of her class. How could she be, considering that all those tomes she was expected to study were made from her precious tress? The irony was palpable. He could not think of a more tortuous profession...save for his current one of course.
He chose not to answer her remark regarding his size, nor the one regarding his pay, instead glancing around warily for potential ambush. After all, it was in their blood. Where there was wood elf you could see, there were usually a dozen with bows in hiding.
"Do you offer to accompany every traveler that passes you by on a busy road?" he inquired, practically interrogated, actually bewildered that she had gone from complaining about their noise to wishing to travel with them. He considered now that she might be a roadside whore, and thought to tell her they did not have enough coin between them to make her efforts worth it, not that he thought that would stop his employer from haggling if given half the chance.

"I don't need to know. My father is guiding me." Orirdrik raised a hand to touch his heart. Under his chain mail he could feel the symbol of Clangeddin pressing against his flesh. "His guidance has never failed me once. Soon I will worship him in the only manner he craves." He looked over to the tall woman. "And what guides you down this trail?" "My feet, ears and eyes, and occasionally, my nose," she said, trying and failing to catch a whiff of potential dinner from this alleged tavern somewhere on the road. "Worship him how?" she asked, not too familiar with this Clangeddin god. "In battle?"

Cry his name as I cut some baddie to pieces. That is temple to me." Orirdrik smiled and shifted his belt from side to side as he walked. "How do you pray to your gods?"

"By singing," replied Alain, neglecting to mention she did not in fact have any gods, nor were any of her songs religious. "And you are so sure this road will bring you to battle?" she inquired. "What do you do if you come across one, but there is no good cause?"

Fae proceded to pack up her little picnic. "I have spent my life learning my craft and my faith. Temple life is rather... Inclusive." "And to snswer your question, no I do not normally join strangers on journeys, but my Goddess put you in my path and I do not make it a habit of straying from whatever omens she puts before me",She turned to them both. "Good or bad." She stared at Aestro,"I also am not a Wood Elf. I am only half elf." Fae gave him a small grin,"Don't ask which half because I don't know, but hopefully the Goddess will lead me to that answer as well." Grabbing her pack and slinging it on, her Quarterstaff then in her hand, Fae took in breath,"Also I think that you are going to need a wizard whereever you are headed gentlemen."

"It has been my experience that most roads lead to battle. I have not yet found a battle not worth fighting. I hope I never do." Orirdrik replied and gave a small, helpless shrug. "So you are some kind of tavern singer? I imagine you greatly disappointed your poor parents."

Alain, who found most battles to be aimless and entirely unnecessary, looked to the dwarf with slight amusement. "Taverns, courts, festivals... wherever the road takes me. I intend to see as much of this world as I possibly can," she said. "On the contrary. They were poor, yes, but now, they are not."

A wizard would be spectacular! You see, we are on a grand quest I should like to reach the natural conclusion of! But first I must consult my captain of the guard..." He turned to huddle and whisper with Sir Eredin, with his back to the stranger. "What do you think? I say we keep her. We need the company, she's pleasant to look at, and her proclivities shouldn't impede your hobby. Plus she might have coin to spare..."

He turned his head to look at her. Alain laughed shortly. " Squawking in taverns will probably get you beat up," she admitted before listing an admirable number of places quite far from where they were now, mostly surrounding the lands of wherever she was from. [awk] "This is the farthest I've ever been from home," she added with a note of pride. "What of yourself?"

My folks are brewers based out of Silverymoon." He motioned vaguely to the north west. "I traveled with them all along the coast. From Luskan to South of Baldur's gate. And once I became a mercenary I traveled as far east as Thay. Not to mention the Underdark. I have traveled twice as far a couple leagues down." He motioned down to the ground.

"Well first lesson of the outside world then and this one is free," Eredin intoned in a grim tone and a black gaze at the half-elf. "It is unwise to chastise armed strangers on the road. You never know what they could be capable of."
He let that thinly veiled threat hang in the air as he was pulled away for a private conference with his employer, evaluating each point he made in Faelyn's favor. In his mind he had more than enough company already, a pretty face was as often a liability as a boon, and anyone that attempted to get in the way of his aims would find themselves like so much wheat before the scythe.
Aestro's last point, however gave him some pause, the knight begrudgingly turning back to the newcomer with a slightly less foreboding disposition.
"Second rule of the outside world: When joining a traveling party, it is customary for the newcomer to treat her new companions to food drink and lodging at the next inn they come across. Does that sound acceptable to you?"

Faelyn stared, listeniing to the knight, nodding in agreeance. If it was fear he wanted, he would not get it even though it it was good advice. She waited as her new travel companions conversed in low tones as if she couuld not hear them.
When Sir Eredin turned and gave his advice, she smiled tapping the coin purse on her belt. The money inside giving aa small clinkin sound. "I do not have a problem with that, at all."
"Where would you care to take refuge tonight?"

Sir Eredin, with nothing further to add, simply looked to Aestro, hoping that if the warlock chose their accommodations he would be less likely to spend the journey to the town after that bitching about them.
