"Fantastic!" I believe our current quest leads us..." He pointed in the direction of the main plot. "That way!"
He began walking in the same direction she had found him walking. "So, Faelin, where did you study?"

Fae walked along with them, she decided to pull out her flute until Aestro asked her a question. "I was reared and educated in the Temple of the Moon, located in Sea Ward of Waterdeep." She smiled, "A proud worshiper of the Moonmaiden, I am."
"The priestesses took me in as a swaddled babe and I have been there ever since."

"Ahh..." Aestro was reminded of his dead family, and that he was an orphan now too. He frowned thoughtfully at her story and then asked, quite bluntly, "Do you wonder if they're still alive? Your family, not the priestesses."

Shrugging as she placed her fingers on the flute holes. "I have no idea.." Sighing heavily, "I don't even know what they look like, but hopefully I will be guided to my answers."

Sir Eredin eyed the flute as if it had killed his family, burned down his home, and kicked his dog. The last thing the longwinded warlock needed was a soundtrack.
His family was alive and well, though the Caranthir name likely tarnished after his exile and expulsion from his knightly order. He would return it to its former glory soon enough, in the same way he had earned his spurs-in blood.
"Or more likely guided to an early grave the way you're going," he remarked, grimly, missing the days he had a steed to ride above (or over) the rabble.

"Well, as an amateur theologist, I believe the Moonmaiden is associated with the protection of travelers. Then again, she is also the patron goddess of werewolves. So I suppose it could go either way, really. A pleasant journey or death by ravenous lycanthropes..." Aestro shrugged. "I can think of more boring ways to die."

"All Lycanthropes are not evil. Those that worship her are good and fight the evil ones in service to her sister",Fae corrected him. "And yes she guards travelers and questers alike."
"Our journey should be fine as long as I practice humility and remain self-reliant. When the moon is full, I shall give her an offering to protect us."

'All people who follow my religion are good people and those who don't must be evil.' What a simple life. To judge morality based on creed..." He turned to his bodyguard. "You're a knight. You have taken oaths. Walked the path and all that business. Would you say that all good knights are in one order and all the bad knights in another?"

"A good knight is one with a talent for killing, while a bad knight is one with a talent for dying," Sir Eredin replied simply when questioned. "The oath matters less than the blade defending it. In most cases it only serves as a crutch, providing tenets so a knight does not have to bear the burden of being judge and jury, only executioner." Unbidden, he then told a tale from his old life, albeit in his typical utilitarian manner, with none of the flourishes of the warlock.
"We had a famine in Tethyr once, population outstripping our granaries, too many mouths and not enough grain. The king decreed that a few acres of forest were to be cleared for the planting of new fields. But as the loggers approached the tree line, a wood elf paladin stepped out, clad in green plate with antlers atop his great helm. He planted his banner in the dirt, garlanded with flowers, to announce that he followed the Oath of the Ancients laid down by the fey to defend the sacred trees, and would cut down any man that approached to fell them. So the king sent me, scythe in hand, to answer the challenge. Was my oath to the crown morally superior to his oath to the fey? All I know is the peasants got their field and the green knight got a shallow grave."

"There. No good. No evil. Just a clear case of Us and Them. Survival of the fittest. Eat or be eaten." He kept walking, and then stopped with a horrified expression, before turning to the wizard. "I'm being rude. You must accept my apologies, Faelyn. My family is... I am not used to alternative views. My father was a sort of cleric, you see. High priest. Bit of a firebrand. He's dead now. Murdered. But your past follows you, I am told. Hence my personal Praetorian. So please... Forgive my insensitivity."

Orirdrik snorted dismissively. "Good Gods no. My folks are brewers based out of Silverymoon." He motioned vaguely to the north west. "I traveled with them all along the coast. From Luskan to South of Baldur's gate. And once I became a mercenary I traveled as far east as Thay. Not to mention the Underdark. I have traveled twice as far a couple leagues down." He motioned down to the ground. Alain looked at the ground, and thinking of the dark narrow passages, shivered as if she'd just happened upon a particularly unpleasant mollusk. She'd been in the Underdark once, briefly, and it had been more than enough for a single lifetime. Still, she was as curious about its inhabitants as creatures as any would have been, from a safe distance. "What did you see down there?" she asked.

Chasms so deep and long you could fit all of Waterdeep inside. A giant waterfall of a crystalline water so sweet it tasted of honey. A buried volcano spewing lava and gasses so deadly they would killed anything but a dwarf. I have seen an army of a thousand goblins splinter against a line of barely a hundred soldiers. I have seen kobold sorcerers, kou loath, shriekers and elementals." He waved around the surface and added. "If you only wander about the surface world then you are missing half the story."

She shook her head slowly, thinking of a response that was not as ruse as the Baron's. "I have not been in the presence of many knights but I can understsand your views, Sir Eredin. It is your experiences that have made your this way." Her eyes then fixed on Aestro's,"But you, yes you have offended me. Just because you persue quickly through a religions does not mean that you understand it. My naivity of the world will pass the more I travel in it, and I will adjust." "But you have alot to learn as well, Baron Aestro... " Fae brushed past him and began to walk quickly in front of the two men.

"I think you just lost us our free drinks," Eredin deadpanned, as Faelryn stormed off. "You really need to work on your people skills." The barest hint of a smile crossed his features as he criticized the warlock, the irony not lost on him.

Alain listened with genuine interest, but shrugged at the dwarf's final comment. "If I wandered below it, I'd probably be missing half my limbs. Have to go with the lesser evil here."
