"Collect your friends and leave with what you've gathered," Eredin commanded, dropping the goblin. "Tell them in an hour we raise the drawbridge and hunt down anything left inside the village walls." Eredin knew goblins were cowards at heart, opportunists that placed self preservation above all else. 1d20+34EvWtIKQ

Zesz didn't waste an eye's blink, as soon as he was on the ground the goblin darted towards the gat, not bothering to get his friends or any loot. At that moment, all he cared was about himself and himself alone.

Eredin sighed as he watched the goblin flee without following the instructions provided. He immediately regretted not beating him death like the last one.
"Two goblins remain in the village and they're holding the townsfolk in a cave to the north according to our little green friend. Says they were fleeing from something when the goblins captured them," he addressed the group, with a cursory glance at the paling warlock. "So let's clear the inn and take a breath to patch our wounds and question our mystery archer. Then we should raise the drawbridge in case he decides to bring any reinforcements back and finish our search of the town. Any objections?"

The Baron shook his head, simply adding. "I would hazard a guess that our undefined terror is in the keep across the second drawbridge, or these goblins would have run into it already. And I think we should assume it will stay there for now."

"That, or whoever governs this town holed himself up inside and let his inferiors suffer," Eredin countered bitterly, all too familiar with being disappointed by a liege.

"Those possibilities aren't mutually exclusive. I should know." Not that Aestro had ever actually ruled his people.

Sera lead the monk outside into the square her bow still raised and pointed at the motley crew. "You know them?" She asked the monk.

"I'd lower that bow if I were you," Eredin said sharply, an edge to his tone. "Unless you feel confident fighting two against four."
He glanced from one woman to the other.
"Locals?"

She should have let them die, ungrateful bastard.
"Who are you?" She didn't move the bow, better to have it ready just in case, just because they'd been killing goblins did not mean they were not a danger.

The half-elf in expensive clothes currently soaked in his own blood stepped in front of the knight. "Apologies! My friend was unconscious for your timely rescue! For which we are tremendously grateful!" He introduced his companions one by one, starting with Sir Eredin.
"...and I am the Baron Aestrovico Ludocristo da Malebolge. The 'da' is Old Thayan for 'of' and Malebolge is so far away, you can just call me Aestro. As I would hope you would anyway..." There was a sincere affability in the warlock, and never stopped trying to make friends in spite of how seriously wounded he clearly was.

Orirdrik walked over to two new arrivals. He studied them slowly before bowing his head politely. "That was a masterful shot before. I appreciate your intent even if I was perfectly capable of cutting the ears off that worg." He patted his chest with two fingers. "I am called Orirdrik Grimsunder. What is your name lass?"

"Sera" she Saudi, nodding at the praise but not acknowledging it.
As Aestro had introduced everyone she nodded to each one shortly. Then lowered her bow, but kept the arrow knocked loosely just in case. "Why are you here?"

"For the same reason as most travelers, a bed and a hot meal," Eredin replied, before the warlock could wax philosophically about the existential crisis incurred by that question and how they were meaningless specks in an infinite void. "Instead we were treated to the rest and respite of goblins and worgs."
"Same question," he intoned, motioning the the pair with an armored hand.

"I heard the bells," Sera said, giving nothing more away than that, she didn't answer for the monk, even though she knew.
