Depends if he means flank as descriptive text, or is using the optional mechanic from the DMG. If its just flavor, I would assume it is just moving very quickly to attack from the side, as D&D doesn't bother with where someone is facing usually. Just using flank as a flavor, yeah. Yet, I feel it is unfair to attack Astro directly without any chance of someone protecting him.

Would you like my advice as a DM who has run with 5E for well over a year?

Cynically speaking, don't worry too much, 1st and to a lesser extent 2nd levels are just squishy. I have never run 'theatre of the mind' personally (Mainly because I have spent WAY too much money on Grids, battlemats, flip mats, and tiles), but PC's dropping quickly is not at all unusual, so long as someone picks them up, should be okay.
Though speaking of Astro... Why the is he playing a Warlock without Hex?

I did find some websites with grids for online play. I don't have the links on my phone but I found them through Google. Never got a chance to try them out but you could see if they help you.

Hmmm... Maybe, I can make a grid just for the start of the fight, just to give people a good spatial notion of what's going on. I don't think there'd be need to update it every turn, maybe we could do it only in rounds where many movements happened.
What do you think?

Wait, don't opportunity attacks come before the enemy gets to attack? Alain and Eredin should both get to whack the worg before it eats Aestro, unless it has some special ability I'm not aware of.

They happen when the enemy moves out of your threatened space

Except for the Polearm Master feat, which triggers when an enemy moves within the 10' reach of your weapon. So I should get to attack before it rolls against Aestro.

That's a fair question Zack, that doesn't seem to have an official answer. I'm trying to find out.
Chris, he has the PoleArms Master feat that allows him to get a OA when a creature comes into the players' range.
