The knight, the warlock, and their disgruntled captive made their way to the keep. Eredin inspected the damage to the bridge that connected the village to the fortification.

Aestro chatted with the prisoner. "You know, the Zhentarim should really invest in the dungeoncrawling business. No one needs mercenaries anymore, not with the advent of the one man army god of war archetype. Who gives a shit about Lord Pisspot? All the good stuff is hidden in crummy castles and secret lairs and other dimensions! Your business model is all wrong! Don't you know it's going to crumble the moment some lone drow ranger or curmudgeonly wizard type pops along? Instead, you should be collecting all the cool artifacts and charging a finder's fee. One cursed crystal of doom must be worth, what, your entire yearly salary?"

A 70-foot-long, 10-foot-wide sloped bridge used to connect the village bailey to the motte. However, a falling rock struck the bridge and destroyed a 15-foot-long section of it, cutting off Nandar Keep from the village.

As his employer patronized their captain, Eredin attempted to determine whether or not he could jump the gap.

Jumping towards the keep, from the lower part of the broken bridge to the upper part, doesn't seem like a huge problem. But the way back could prove to be a little problematic.

"Which building is the trader?" he asked their captive, figuring it may have supplies to make a makeshift bridge across the gap to make crossing easier.

"First one coming from the square." Kella rolled her eyes.

"Now was that so hard?" he inquired, tugging her along towards the building she had indicated. "Things are so much easier when you answer my questions the first time I ask them."

Aestro had put manacles on Kella's wrists and ankles, then allowed her to walk ahead with the very polite and casual warning that he had no moral objections to frying her brain through the back of her skull should she try to run. Then he carried what supplies he could and, alongside his bodyguard, conveyed their prizes to the broken drawbridge.

Eredin stepped back a good distance to allow himself a running start, then attempted to jump the gap.

"Alright, toss the ropes over," he instructed Aestro, reaching a hand out.

As discussed, Eredin secured the ropes on his side with the pitons.
"Unshackle her ankles and send her over," he said impassively, figuring their captive was as good a guinea pig as any for testing the structural integrity of their engineering efforts.
