Orirdrik walked up to the sealed door and then looked at Alain. He pointed at the door and said. "You are right. Worse bandits ever. Should we knock?" He looked around as much of the village he could from where he stood.

"Stay here," he told Aestro as he began climbing the ladder. "If anyone less friendly looking than myself approaches, slam the door and bar it." On top of the 20 feet tower, Ereding can't see very far into town but he manages to make out a general map of their surroundings. He notices that there are several large stones scattered across the town as if they had rained from the skies. He can also see that to the East stand three larger buildings, one easily identifiable as the Temple, the other two with large holes in their thatch roofs. Towards the center of the Town, he sees part of a large muddy open area with a whole in the middle of it, something these filthy peasants would probably proudly call a square. There are several small farms and what seem to be houses scattered by the town. On the southeastern corner of the Square there seem to be two large animal figures feasting on the carcass of a dog. EDIT: Had to make some edits, considering the field of view.

He looked around as much of the village he could from where he stood. Alain shrugged and gave a fairly non-committal nod before stepping forward to the door, assuming that whoever just fled there was more likely to be responsive to her voice rather than the dwarf's. "Hello?" she called sweetly. "We were just passing by. Can you tell us what is going on here?"

Eredin looked impassively at the town below, confirming his suspicions that a siege had taken place. The attackers had certainly torn down their trebuchets quickly. He climbed down the latter and took his scythe in hand again upon finding that the warlock had closed the door and was attempting to bar it.
"There better be something big and scary behind that door," he remarked. When he heard a woman's voice from the other side, he gave Aestro a critical glance and let out a beleaguered sigh. "Really?"

"One moment! Consulting my extremely badass and most intimidating bodyguard!"
"Not her." The warlock hissed to his companion. "The big dwarf in chainmail! He came out into the street and started banging his shield like some bloody tribal sniffing blood!"

"Just open the door, Ludocristo," Eredin replied, having neither the time nor inclination to get into the oxymoron that was the phrase "big dwarf."
He stood at the ready with his weapon in front of the door, in case those outside really were hostile.

Orirdrik stood with his shield raised, and his axe still attached to his belt. He began to whistle as he stood waiting for the fools to open the door. He was looking around the village with an intent look on his face. He began to look for any signs of battle from where he was standing. This felt like a raid.

Aestro opened the door before stepping to the side.

He was looking around the village with an intent look on his face. He began to look for any signs of battle from where he was standing. This felt like a raid. No blood, no visible corpses. But, apart from the destruction cause by the raining boulders, there were more signs that indicated that a raid might have taken place. Several of the buildings, incluiding the temple whose bells still toiled, had clearly been broken into, windows were broken and you could spot occasional household items scattered across town.

Alain saw the raised scythe before its wielder and instinctively took a step back from the door, out of its immediate reach.
"Greetings," she said, looking to the man a little warily. "Were you attacked?"

"Not yet. Unless you plan to change that?" Eredin replied with a slight edge, though relaxed noticeably. "We just arrived."

"We're not brandishing weapons," she replied, looking to her companion who hadn't drawn steel either, and thinking that perhaps this knight was a little daft.
"As did we. Your caution is reasonable given the circumstances, though I'd appreciate it if you lowered your blade," she added. "I take it you don't know what has passed here?"

Eredin did not mention that with the number of individuals in the world who could shoot lightning bolts and fireballs, not seeing a weapon did not necessarily mean you were safe, instead lowering his weapon.
"Looks like a siege took place from the look I got, stones littered all over town. Presumably whoever is in the temple ringing that bell will know a bit more."

Orirdrik looked at the two of them to make sure neither of the newcomers could throw boulders, and then said, "Aye the temple." He started walking quickly toward the ringing bell. He drew his axe now, and looked about for any dangers, or casualties as he walked.

Aestro leaned his head into the doorway between the parties, then stepped completely out, like some jester appearing for the first time in a play.
"Greetings! I am the Baron Aestrovico Ludocristo da Malebolge. 'Da' is Old Thayan for 'of'. This is my High Praetorian Sir Eredin. He kills people who want to kill me and he likes killing people in general, so it works out. There's a lot of backstory involved, but I think we can save that for later. Apologies about the casual racism faux pas earlier. It's just been a long trip and neither of us are exactly diplomats..."
