Alain wasn't particularly fond of the idea, investigating the aftermath of some raid of dubious origin, but figured she'd do it for the art, perhaps even write a sad ballad about the downfall of this... surely once great village.
She was slightly thrown off by the baron's entrance. "Interesting," she said at the new pieces of information, using the word in its truest meaning - when there was nothing else to say, but one attempted to maintain a polite front.
"I am Alain and this one over there is Grim," she added after a brief calculation.

Eredin stepped passed Alain and followed the dwarf, happy to have both a meat shield and an unobstructed view of what was in front of him over the dwarf's head. He assumed his charge would be in tow, once he finished with his long winded introduction and insufferable quips.

"Probably not," she agreed with the baron and started following Grim and the knight, quite content with walking behind the two tanks/armored pawns. "Though from what you said, they ought to get along swimmingly."

"Speaking of swimming, I keep wondering why the drawbridge was left down for us. Whoever is ringing that bell could probably have put it up, but they didn't. So it occurs to me that our ominous threat is here, within the walls of the town. And the townsfolk have fled rather than take shelter with the drawbridge up."
He considered his words. "But someone tried to destroy the bridge to the keep... Which says either the defenders did it intentionally to keep something from getting in... Or something did it to keep them from getting out..."

Having heard the bell whilst travelling, Sera arrived to investigate. She entered through the gates abd looked round.

If there is nothing she continues to the closer large building.

"The keep has seen better days though," Eredin surmised, heading towards the town square. "And someone lowered the drawbridge. Maybe the besiegers bombarded the town and forced a surrender."

There's a gaping hole in the roof right above the stone fell through, it leads to a guest room on the second floor. Lying on the floor in the middle of the room Sera finds a dead goblin with a crossbow bolt protruding from its neck. As she moves closer to the body, the elf manages to hear someone rummaging through the kitchen. Sera hears the rustling and goes to investigate, trying to see who it was who was rummaging. hOoPHQA_1d20+71d20+7

Grim walked along behind the human. "Possible I suppose. They were only human." From the way Orirdrik said this it was clear he believed dwarves would never have surrendered so swiftly. "Any way... Goblins are too stupid to aim siege artillery. Had to be more."

"I suspect the the last pair were latecomers like us. We have no way of knowing how long they had been here or when the drawbridge came down."

"The keep has seen better days though," Eredin surmised, heading towards the town square. "And someone lowered the drawbridge. Maybe the besiegers bombarded the town and forced a surrender." As the Paladin and the crew made their way to the square, Eredin found the very same seen he had a dozen minutes ago, when he had overlooked the town from the tower. The Central Square was a muddy open area of battered dirt and spotted with boulders as was the pattern with the whole town. On the very center of it lied a five-foot deep hole that seemed to have contained something until very recently. On the far end of the square, some thirty feet away from the crew, a pair of , what now Eredin recognized as worgs, still tried to make a meal of a mastiff's femur.

Sir Eredin took his scythe in hand and whistled towards the pair of scavenging monstrosities, clearly not a fan of the stealthy approach.
